Gary Craig, the founder of EFT, originally devised three training levels for EFT. Now he has launched his own qualification at three levels based on DVD study and examination. His programme tests knowledge of EFT.
Setting standards and a syllabus for workshops focused on the ability to deliver it in a therapy setting have been taken over in the UK by the Association for the Advancement for Meridian Energy Therapy (AAMET), the lead body for energy therapy regulation and standards in the UK. Practitioner training with an AAMET-approved trainer is an essential prerequisite if you want to be a member of AAMET and to be listed on the AAMET website. The seals below denote courses run by AAMET-certified trainers.
Introduction - discovering EFT.
This is the course for people new to EFT or who have learned EFT through downloading the manual and watching the DVDs and now want to experience working with other people in a group and having the opportunity to watch live demonstrations and to have their questions answered. It is both for people who want to learn EFT to use it for themselves and for those who intend to continue with their training to practitioner level. No previous experience either of therapy or of EFT is required to attend a Level 1 training.
On an intrroductory course, expect to learn where EFT comes from, the tapping points, what psychological reversal is, about aspects, testing and calibrating, how you know what words to use, what to do when EFT is not working, handling excessive intensity, how to detach the emotions from specific negative memories with the movie technique, working with physical pains, and with cravings.

Practitioner – Working with EFT.
People who have done am Introductory workshop (or in exceptional circumstances been given an exemption because of their experience and knowledge of EFT) are eligible to do a practitioner workshop. On it you will learn how we acquire and are run by our inner beliefs, how to deal with the tailenders that reflect our often unrecognized inner beliefs that sabotage affirmations and change, additional tapping points, how to work more gently, the detective work that helps us to get to core issues, how emotional causes have physical consequences, how to work with pain and physical discomfort at a more sophisticated level, emotional drivers of physical problems and addictive behaviours, more ways to test, working on the telephone, working with groups.
This is both for people who want to deepen their understanding of the power of tapping and for therapists who want to take tapping into their practices.

Advanced practitioner – Refining the art of delivery of EFT.
This covers everything you need to know and have not already covered on the previous levels to bring your work to a more sophisticated and accomplished level. You will learn more about working with intuition, about pre-framing and reframing, about working with more difficult clients and problems. A large supervisory element will be involved in this level.

Additional requirements
People who do practitioner training receive an attendance certificate at the end of the second day. This becomes an AAMET Practitioner Certificate only after the submission of three case studies illustrating a satisfactory level of competence in working with EFT. One of them must be working with themselves. There is also a detailed multiple choice examination to pass.
Further case studies are also required after the Advanced Practitioner training.
Anyone who wishes to and has done practitioner training can attend again at half the usual cost for the learning they will gain. And you can join am Advanced Practitioner training before you have practitioner certification if you want to do it and submit all the case studies together. It is not an easier option, just a more flexible one.
As well, all AAMET practitioners have to agree to do and log 30 hours CPD (continuing professional development) a year and to have 12 hours a year mentoring with someone at their own EFT level or above or six hours inidividual mentoring. Go to Judy's courses page
